The Dawn of Pomerania. The Collection of Pomeranian Antiquities. Guide to the archeological exhibition at the National Museum in Szczecin.

Dawn of Pomerania – a new permanent exhibition at the National Museum in Szczecin – presents almost 14 millennia of cultural history in the Pomeranian lands, covering the times from the end of the ice age to the first decades of existence of the Duchy of Pomerania. At the exhibition you can see over 1000 artefacts from the rich archaeological collections gathered in Szczecin since the 1st half of the 19th century.

The guide is also available in Polish entitled "Świt Pomorza. Świt Pomorza. Kolekcja starożytności pomorskich. Przewodnik po wystawie archeologicznej" and in German entitled "Der Anbruch Pommerns. Die Sammlung pommerscher Altertümer. Führer durch die Ausstellung".

The oldest of the presented archaeological finds date to the 13th millennium BC. These are traces of the material and spiritual culture of the hunter-gatherer community that acquired goods from the natural world. Successive groups of the specialised Stone Age hunters and gatherers dominated in Pomerania for several thousand years.
